 The breakfast dishes were piled up in the sink ready for you to wash as everything was just as you left it this morning. Koromaru had went back to his little bed and curled up to nap a bit. Just as you were about to step into the kitchen, the sound of post hitting the mat at the front door sounded. Peering out you looked to see a small scattered pile of different coloured envelopes. Dragging your slippers to the door you picked them up. 

While walking through the corridor you scanned through the letters, you slipped some of the pizza advertisements into the recycling bin. While the more important ones like bills were still in your hands, but you held one of the letters were unique. In expensive parchment and a blood red seal was stamped on the front. And it was addressed to Noctis.

Deciding that you would give it to him later when you bring him some tea, you put on the glass coffee table. But something else catches your eye, a silver haired woman in a picture smiling softly while holding her son’s hand. Is that…? Noctis Sensei? you asked yourself picking the photo up in your hands. Shrugging you put it down.

A small shut of a door made you turn, “Shot-san, are you going somewhere?” you asked the blonde who was coming out of his room carrying a black case, he perked up as he saw you.

“Oh! Hey, Princess! Yeah, I’m off to practise,” he grinned waving, you smiled back in return,

“How ‘bout a cup of coffee or tea before you go?” you suggested, Shot stretched with his case still in his hands. “That sounds good! Cuppa coffee if you don’t mind!” he said walking to sit on the leather sofa.

Knowing his character, Shot would have liked his caffeine sweet. So three tea spoons of brown sugar and bit more milk. “Ah, nothing beats a cuppa,” Shot grinned reaching for the cup on your hands.

“Say, Shot-san, do you know that woman in the picture?” you asked looking at the picture you saw earlier. Shot glanced at your direction, then at the picture. He sipped some of the drink before answering.

“That would be his mom,” he answered rather quietly, you looked at him saying nothing. “That’s all I know, every time you ask Noct, he’ll just avoid the question. But despite that he’s not all bad right? I mean he even offered you to stay and he accepted me who I am…”

“Shot san?”

“Oh? Don’t mind me! I’m rambling!” he laughed sheepishly, your eyes drooped knowing he was hiding something. “Ah! Look at the time! Gotta get going! Oh and thanks for the coffee!” he said in rush running out of the door after he glanced at his imaginary watch on his wrist.

It would seem… not only I am the one suffering here.

You knocked quietly on Noctis’s room, “Sensei? There was something in the post for you,” you called from outside the room.

“Come in,” his voice called from the inside,

“Please excuse me,” you added as you opened the door. The man himself was seated at his desk with his rectangular glasses on the bridge of his nose. He was writing something and soon put down his fountain pen and turned his chair towards you.

“Noctis is fine, no need for formalities around the house,” he said simply,

“Okay… I err… would you like some tea? I made some?” you asked holding the tea tray in your hands, Noctis blinked a couple of times “That would be lovely,” he answered softly. Walking to his desk, you put the empty cup on his desk and poured the tea from the teapot. Putting one spoonful of sugar and a little bit of milk in the liquid.

Just as you were ready to go out, you remembered something. “Noctis-san, there was a letter for you,” you recalled holding the parchment letter for him.

“Hmm? For me?” you nodded as he took the letter from you. Realization dawned to him as he saw what it was. So it’s that time already…

“________, I need you to do something,” he asked turning back to you. “Here’s some money, I need you to buy a evening dress for yourself, black presumably,” he said giving a small sock up wallet.

“Whatever for?” you asked.

But before you could ask, the door bell rang. You hurried to the door and set aside the tray to open it. “Can I help-?” you started but woman stared at you in the doorway instead. “Can, I help you?” you repeated.

But she ignored your request and asked something else. “Who are you? And what do you think you’re doing standing in the Caelum household?” she asked with sternness in her voice.

“I er…” you felt awkward under her blue glazed stare, “I’m kinda staying here at the moment,” you answered sheepishly.

“Impossible-“

“Miss Fleuret, nice of you to visit,” Noctis’ voice said behind you putting a hand on your shoulder. “This is ________ _________ she’s a student of mine and she’s staying here at the moment,” he said directly “Is there a problem?” he asked almost purposely gripping your shoulder reassuring that the woman that you were known around.

“O-oh, is that so?” she smiled trying to regain your trust, behind you Koromaru glared at the woman and barked rather loudly. You ducked under Noctis’ arm and hurried over to him. “Oh, I didn’t know you like dogs Noctis,” the woman said leaning against him purposely to get a good look.

Silently groaning, he robotically pushed her away by her shoulders, “Is there something you need?” he asked as politely as possible. She smiled, “I thought we should plan our wedding arrangements,”

It was like time was pausing itself, letting those words dawning into your mind, carving itself so you wouldn’t even let it slip.

“I never agreed to do it, Stella,” Noctis said in a icy tone walking away into the living room, Stella followed him in, slamming the door shut.

“Don’t be like that, besides, aren’t you wearing your ring?” she giggled, it would’ve seemed she was picking her words so carefully to torment you. But you had learnt better to walk in headlong into a trap like this.

“No, I’m not,” he replied sternly and to prove it, he removed his leather glove to see, indeed, bare fingers. A second later he slipped it back on. “__________, go prepare some tea would be so kind?”

“Oh… alright Noct-san,”

Like lightning that struck the entire house, you realized your mega mistake. ‘Noct-san…’

Noctis’ face looked like he saw a woman in her underwear, while Stella looked completely murderous. You turned your head and laughed sheepishly. “I’ll go make the tea… then…”

“No need! Don’t you prefer the Fleurets’ special Champagne? Noct-san?” she said sweetly copying you. Noctis shook his head, “No thank you, I’m not a big fan of alcohol, _______, if you please,”

“Y-yes,” with that you hurried inside the kitchen with a red streaks on your face. You wanted to repeatedly hit your head on the counter, but you didn’t think that would be useful. You hurriedly and clumsily made the tea and carried two cups out.

“Ah, thank you _______,” Noctis thanked and you were prepared to go until his voice stopped you again. “Going already? Why don’t join us?”

“I-I don’t want to be intruding on the both of you, I mean you are getting married after all,” you stuttered trying to find the best excuse. Koromaru nudged the back of your legs sticking his tongue out wagging his tail eagerly.

“See, even the dog wants you to stay, Now sit,” with one pull on your wrist you were sitting next to him. “And for last time, we aren’t getting married,” he said sipping his tea. Stella left hers untouched.

You knocked on Noctis’ door after Stella had taken her leave. He sat on his bed with his head in his hands obviously frustrated. Sensing you were there, he patted the empty space on the bed next to him. Saying nothing you walked towards and sat down, you let out a sudden yelp as he collapsed on your shoulder.

“Noctis-san?” you asked a in quiet voice, nor did you move or push him off though.

“Ne… _________ call me that again?”  he requested, in a sleepy tone. That? you thought to yourself. Oh… how could I forget… ‘Noct-san’ “________”

“Noct-san?” you said with a sheepish face giving up, he turned his face a bit over to you smiling.

“That’s better,” he whispered, he shifted his position so he was lying down on the bed pulling you down with him close to himself. You gulped down a lump in your throat. Defeated you lay still instead.
